The Mesopotamians worshiped many god for different things, say, for flooding or basket weaving. In each city-state, there was a ziggurat, which means "mountain of god" or "hill of heaven".
There were hundreds of Mesopotamian gods. The most well known ones are Tiamat, Marduk, Ishtar and Enkil.

That's really difficult to say. Mesopotamia is a region that was comprised of many different people with hundeds of gods total.
Many. Their gods were identified with natural occurrences such as; the sky, fresh water, or even storms. Each family, city, person, and generation had its own god. So they were considered to be polytheistic.
