the nigerians had a benin head for each leader that had passed away and the british wanted it. the british used to trade with the oba. the oba was in the middle of the festival when the English leader sent a letter saying that im coming the oba replied by saying no because im in a festival and i do not wish for you to come and see me like this so he said im coming anyway he went with a group i think of 4 or 6 and the oba closed all the trading routes while the English leader was on his way the nigerians attacked them and only two came out alive including the leader the british came to the oba and told him to sign a trading treaty which meant that the british could trade with them so the oba signed it instead of it being a trading treaty it was a treaty that said that the british could rule Nigeria the british came and killed most of the people who lived in nigeria and took the benin heads which were carved out of ivory and was very valuble in those times and now they rest in a museum in Britain and people still today are arguing about the rightfull placements of the heads
