in most cases they will change direction and start growing downwards again. if you took the plant to outer space, where there is no gravity, they will grow in any direction.
As long as the roots are in the ground the plant will grow towards the light.
Gravitropism affects the roots of a plant, so say when you turn it on its side, after a while its roots will make an "L" shape.
I hypothesize that the water will go down by gravity and water the plant and the plant will get sunlight by the sun at the window. I think I did a similar experiment to this except it was with a plastic bag.
If you have suckers or if you put down a leaf and new small plantlets have emergerd do this; knock out root ball, separate any single crowned plants and plant them into pots. A sucker is a plant that has grown out the side of an original plant but is small, carefully slice it from the mother plant leaving at least one inch of stem if possible, plant in soil less mix, moisten then place it in a zip lock baggy so new plant crown can produce roots. This will take about one to two months. Place in good light.

Mechanical weathering.
It occurs so that the plant will always place the broad side of it's leaves toward the Sun.
Plants respire through tiny openings or holes called stomata that are present on the underside of the leaves. Stomata trap air (like oxygen) and the exchange of gases takes place in side the plant cells.

No, the cells in a plant structure are much stronger than ordinary animal cells. The cells in the plant are in lines that go upwards, ie the stem, the combination of the strong cells and then being in lines upward keep the plant standing. The cells are also what causes the plant to follow light. Try it. Get a plant and put a lamp on one side of it, leave it for 1 hour, then move the lamp to the complete opposite side and leave for 1 hour, you will notice that the plant tilts towards the light and this movement is caused by the cell which keep the plant upright!
Gravitropism is a response to gravity. And the plant roots will follow the gravity also you cannot change the place where the roots will grow also if you will put it on the opposite side of the gravity it will also grow down.
The roots of a plant will always grow down. This is to help it find water. The stem grows upwards to find light.
