When capacitors are connected in parallel, the total capacitance is the sum of the individual capacitors' capacitances. If two or more capacitors are connected in parallel, the overall effect is that of a single equivalent capacitor having the sum total of the plate areas of the individual capacitors. As we've just seen, an increase in plate area, with all other factors unchanged, results in increased capacitance.

The total capacitance is more than any one of the individual capacitors' capacitances.
The equivalent capacitance of two or more capacitors connected in parallel is simply the sum of the individual capacitances.

When you connect two capacitors, or any other component for that matter, in parallel, they will have equal voltage. Voltage is similar to pressure, so imagine you have two air containers with different sizes and with one input tied together. If you provide an air pressure, the same pressusre fills both containers and they end up reaching equilibrium at the same pressure for all. The pressure is the same for all, but the amount of air is different between the two.

Similarly, two different size capacitors can hold different amount of charge under the same voltage. If the capacitors are equal, then the charge is equal for parallel capacitors too.
