Ok...I do not want thunderbolts and lightening to strike me for saying this...but many drugs retain their efficacy and safety values past the expiration date....how far past this date is another question! The expiration date is a date that establishes a legal guarantee of safety and effectiveness.

Some examples of drugs that are definitely NOT GOOD after the expiration date are nitroglycerin and antibiotics. How drugs are stored also play huge factors in whether they retain their "freshness" (even if they are not expired..like if you are storing allergy meds in your car and you live in Yuma, Arizona...duh.)

If I were you, I would call my doctor and ask him/her....most doctors I know will tell me if I can still use something I find any hidden in a drawer after a couple of years (ok, once I asked about a sample that was 14 years old)... You can leave a message on the nurse's voice mail and ask if there are any dangerous side effects of expired Viagra.
