It depends on whether you are looking for the Christian Perspective or Jewish Perspective.

Verse in question: Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Christian View

I think this is talking figuratively about our relationship with God. A person's relationship with God is healed through the death of Christ - the 'He' mentioned in the above verse.

Jewish View

The above translation is incorrect. It should be "He was wounded as a result of our transgressions, and crushed as a result of our iniquities. The chastisement upon him was for our benefit; and through his wounds we were healed." The "He" in this verse (as well as the entirety of Isaiah 53) is refering to the Jewish people as a collective - the Jewish people take singular verbs elsewhere, so this is not surprising.

The earlier verses talk about the slow realization by those nations that persecuted the Jews that their persecution of the Jews was not sanctioned in any way, but was a misapplication of their power. Therefore, the Jewish people were wounded and crushed because of the actions of the persecutors or "us". Further proof that the punishment was not Divinely sanctioned is the phrase "the chastisement upon him was for our benefit" as opposed to being for a Divine purpose. This realization, born out of the suffering of the Jewish people will allow the persecutors to become more hallowed people because they can see the Horror of their actions and discover true Divine Purpose. This is why the wounds of the Jews will heal those persecutors at the End of Days.

Thank you , but helpful if the actual Book name for the verse is also written out . For instance Isaiah - Isa? Not even a normal abbreviation for the book name .
