A guinea pig will chatter its teeth if it is agitated or upset. The guinea pig is often showing that it is angry and this sound serves as a warning to keep your distance.

What happens when a guinea pig is jumpy?

Guinea pigs are very vocal and don't mind letting you know how they feel. Like dogs, or other pets, each guinea pig is unique and character. Some will react a little differently than others, but there are some basic guidelines. When they want something, they will make long high pitched whistles. When you get home from work or school and they want to be held, when you open the fridge and they know they are getting a carrot, or when they just need a little attention you will most likely get this reaction. When a guinea pig is scared, they will most likely make a run for it, If they are in a cage, they will back into a corner. They will begin high pitch whistling, but it will sound a little different than their "please give me a carrot" whistle. These will be shorter and faster. My husband and I have joked they sound more like a car alarm. They will also make warning type chatters that are a bit lower. If a guinea pig is very scared and you grab it, the little guy just may bite. Biting isn't as common in guinea pigs as some other rodents, but they could still do it. When a guinea pig is sad, you may not hear a lot out of him. If you have been very busy and he hasn't been getting his fill of lovens, he may not want to talk to you much. When you walk past the cage you could probably expect a couple of pleading whistles, but they can get a little sulky. When a guinea pig is happy and comfortable, it is an awesome thing. My guinea pigs have always gotten weekly baths in the kitchen sink. (They make a shampoo just for them.) Whenever we are done, they get wrapped in a warm towel and I hold them in my lap and dry them. They snuggle right in and start something like purring. When a guinea pig does this, it is from down deep and their entire body vibrates with it. They will hold out their chin for you to scratch underneath. After a few minutes of this they tend to take a pretty good nap.

My other guinea pig died yesterday and now the one i have left is very lonely. will she be ok?

It is likely that she will need a friend. If you have a local shelter, try and find another guinea pig the same age to pair them up. I do warn you though, female guinea pigs do fight more than male ones! I would consult the vet first. It may be that she adapts well to living alone depending on her age. Only time will tell. P.S sorry to hear about your Guinea pig. X

Do Guinea Pigs watch TV?

From what I have heard, you shouldn't bring your piggy into the same room as the telly when it is on for too long. This is because when it is on, there is a very high pitched noise that you can only just about hear if you mute your telly, but guinea pigs can hear it much louder than we can. I believe this may hurt their ears?

What does a purring noise mean in a guinea pig language?

This means a guinea pig is experiencing pleasure, enjoyment, or excitement. You will hear this noise when you pet your guinea pig or feeding it a treat. If you hear this noise suddenly when you are not petting your guinea pig it is afraid or it feels threatened. They purr if they hear a loud noise: a telephone ring or a knock on the door.

How do you hear chatot speak?

If you want to record your own call for chatot, here's how you do it: You must first have Chatot learn the move Chatter at level 21. You can then (outside of battle) use chatter like any of the HM moves. Select it, and then say what you want to hear when you send out Chatot. and that's it. It'll sound exactly like you do (or did when you spoke into the mic).
