Tourists go there all the time. Probably won't see the firebases though, they've been grown over with vegetation. Destroyed tanks and jets have been buried by plant growth or scrapped (recycled). About the only thing you'll see from the war (other than museums) will be some ponds scattered about the region; those are old 1,000 and 750 pound bomb craters made from US jet fighter bombers. GIs used to bath and swim in those holes; now some have become "fish ponds" for some local farmers. Those are some deep holes (ponds), a person can drive their automobile in them, and not see their vehicle anymore, that's how deep some of those bomb craters were.
You might see some old ex-USN Swift Boats (50 foot aluminum riverine boats) at some docks. These might now be fishin boats for some of the locals. They're probably a bit too old to be of use to the new Vietnamese Navy. I say "new" because the NORTH Vietnamese Navy captured them, but the NORTH Vietnamese Navy disappeared when they won the war...they're just Vietnamese now.
