In reality there is only about a 3 or 4 day window each month when a woman can get pregnant. This is a couple days before ovulation, (because sperm can survive for a couple days after being ejaculated into the vagina) up until and possibly a couple days after ovulation. Ovulation occurs "typically" on the 14th day of your cycle starting from day 1, which is the first day of your period. This is assuming you have a 28 day cycle.
If you didn't get pregnant this time and you are TRYING to get pregnant then tracking your cycle may be a good way to determine when you're ovulating and you can attempt to have sex on the days when you're most likely to be fertile
If you DON'T want to get pregnant consider yourself very lucky this time and get on the pill AND use condoms! The pill if used properly will prevent pregnancies and the condoms if used properly will keep you from getting an STD.
