England, and the rest of the UK, have been responsible for some of the most progressive discoveries and inventions in global history. Famous Britons include Shakespeare, Charl…es Darwin, Florence Nightingale, Charles Dickens, Isaac Newton, Agatha Christie, Laurence Olivier, Richard Branson..... (Globally, Shakespeare and Agatha Christie are only out-published by the bible.). From the wording of your question, I presume that you are asking about the UKs present and future contribution to global society. Apart from having two of the most highly regarded universities in the world, the UK is at the forefront of scientific research. This week, the media have reported that significant developments have been made into treatment for macular degeneration. Also, the UK takes an active role in international politics, as a member of the UN, the EU, the IPCC, etc.. Another consideration should be the charity work that the UK is responsible for. London is the base of the Red Cross. Also, this year Comic Relief has raised over £65 million for charity. That's over £1 per person, and in the worst recession for fifty years.. This is less than the tip of the iceberg. I suggets searching the net for British inventions and scientific discoveries, and contributions to art, music, literature and drama.
I live in rural England and it's a great place and I'm sure it's just as great in cities as well. We have a democracy and we are a multi-cultural country, so basically you're …free if you come here. We have the National Health Service which provides you with free healthcare, our police services are unarmed (they don't carry guns), this makes the police more approachable for the public and it looks less intimidating if the police carry pepper spray and batons rather pistols and machine guns. Hope this gives you a brief description. As I don't know what country you're from, I'm going to assume you're from outside the United Kingdom.
