- Rescue of people of Israel by prophet Musa , Peace Be Upon Him, from Pharaoh so Muslims fast this day thanking Allah for this.
- The martyrdom of Husyn Ibn Ali, grand-son of prophet Mohammed Peace Be Upon Him, so some Shia spend this day in mourning.
