By definition, Agriculture is "the science or practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for the growing of crops and therearing of animals to provide food, wool, and other products." However, when people are asked what comes to mind when they hearthe word, "agriculture," that's all they… think of: Farming.Ranching. The dirty guy wearing bib overalls chewing on a piece ofstraw; dirty, hard, laborious physical work that involves diggingin the dirt and chasing cows. The reality is that there is much more to it than that. Agricultureis deep into technology, research, genetics, engineering, financialservices, computing sciences, chemistry, mathematics, agronomy, ethology, economics, politics, marketing, sales, and many others.Agribusiness is agriculture, and agricultural marketing is alsoagriculture. Farmers and ranchers treat their farm or ranch, respectively, as a business, and must market their product in orderto get their pay--it's a job, you know! People who don't farm areinvolved in creating and supplying products that go directly tofarmers and ranchers, or take the products that come from farms andranches and send them to other suppliers which turn them intothings like clothing, horse tack, tennis shoes or footballs. Beefis marketed and imported to other countries. Mechanics work tobuild tractors. Engineers work on creating the latestfuel-efficient, computerized engine for a new model of combineharvester. Researchers find better ways to produce more feedefficient cows or develop a more drought-resistant hybrid of corn,or work in sterile laboratories doing genetic research on wheat orhogs. The message is, agriculture isn't all dirty, stinky, physical work. There's a lot of sterile, mental and managerial jobs associatedwith it and heavily involved in it. Farmers can't operate alone inthis world without all those other people that create products forfarmers so that farmers can produce food.Agriculture is most commonly known as farming. The growing of cropsand raising stock for consumption. The science or practicing off farming. Examples growingfood, rearing of animals to get food. xander (MORE)

If you like to eat, I would suggest supporting it. Those in the business of food, fiber, and fuel production need the support of all consumers of their products. For example, if you support organic food production, then buy as much as you can and ask farmers in your area if they will produce it …for you. I'm not suggesting the support of something to which you object. If you don't believe in animal agriculture, for example, then don't buy meat, milk, eggs, leather products, beauty products, or medicines. Agriculture is like any other industry in that it will produce what the consumer wants and is willing to pay for. (MORE)

Home Means Nevada Written & Music by Bertha Raffetto . Way out in the land of the setting sun, Where the wind blows wild and free, There's a lovely spot, just the only one That means home sweet home to me. If you follow the old Kit Carson trail, Until desert meets the hills, Oh you… certainly will agree with me, It's the place of a thousand thrills.. Home means Nevada Home means the hills, Home means the sage and the pine. Out by the Truckee, silvery rills, Out where the sun always shines, Here is the land which I love the best, Fairer than all I can see. Deep in the heart of the golden west Home means Nevada to me.. Whenever the sun at the close of day, Colors all the western sky, Oh my heart returns to the desert grey And the mountains tow'ring high. Where the moon beams play in shadowed glen, With the spotted fawn and doe, All the live long night until morning light, Is the loveliest place I know.. Home means Nevada Home means the hills, Home means the sage and the pines. Out by the Truckee's silvery rills, Out where the sun always shines, There is the land that I love the best, Fairer than all I can see. Right in the heart of the golden west Home means Nevada to me..
