She is the Saint who watches over prisoners. Not sure why , though. also appears she was the founder of the Poor Clares. She lived during the time of Isabel of Spain.

Beatrice, according to all available info, was a very beautiful woman. Her initial presence in the court caused Isabella to become quite envious given the male attention Beatrice was receiving. Beatrice was literally locked up at Isabella's command and remained a prisoner until the queen got over herself - or at least until she realized that her pettiness didn't look too good.

Beatrice was released, none the worse, and eventually decided to leave the court and become a Cistercian nun. After quite a few years she decided to found another order, the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (the Conceptionist Poor Clares, as they are now known).

Isabella went so far as to give Beatrice a castle to use as her convent, such was the royal repentance.

The Conceptionist Poor Clares still exist and can be looked up on their website.
