I've always found it quite a nice town, with some interesting shops etc.; although to many living in Northamptonshire it has developed a certain reputation for being a wee bit 'rough'. I've never personally found this to be so, although I know a few stories from other people. Possibly some of that reputation is due to a sort of 'us and them' rivalry with its neighbouring town of Kettering.
