Carrier Air Service Unit 9 was established at NAS Pearl Harbor, T.H., on 13 December 1942. It was absorbed by Fleet Air Base Unit (FABU)-2 on 20 February 1943. FABU-2 was redesignated CASU-9 on 10 July 1943 and redesignated CASU(F)-9 (Carrier Air Service Unit Forward - those CASU units based in forward areas west of Hawaii). The unit was disestablished on 10 May 1946. CASU-9 served on Russell Island, Leyte and Lingayen, RP. Carrier aircraft service unit three is a Navy group of men who were flown up from tontouta airfield on New Caledonia to Vella Lavella with stops at Guadalcanal and Munda airfield in October,1943. The R4D's landed without mishap on an unfinished airfield. When the CB's finished the runway operations began. They serviced mainly Marine Corps F4U fighters and some Navy fighters which where F6F's. One of the sqaudrons was VMF214 of which Gregory Boyington was the commander. Casu 3 ceased operations in the spring of 1944 and left for Guadalcanal and returned to the Mainland for R&R

Even if you exclude the smaller aircraft carriers in World War 2, there were still many more than 5 or 6. The US Navy commissioned 23 aircraft carriers of the Essex class during the war, not to mention others in US service, and those used by the British and Japanese navies.

Having worked on C-5 aircraft while I was in the service, I know of no explosives used on the aircraft. That being said, any pallet based bomb, daisy cutter or MOAB for example, could be launched from the C-5.
