Its hard exoskeleton protects it for most predetors & keeps water off its flesh. The claws are used for mating duels & protection. The reason for so many legs are for grip on And off land.
A crab's habitat is in the ocean and sandy land and it may have some stones and rocks with a little bit of water depending on it breed. Don't use fresh water! Only use salt-water from the pet store, in emergancys, go to a pet store right away! Fiddler crab's die in 1 hour without salt-water.
Some crabs live in the ocean, and as adults live on the bottom of the ocean (larval forms are planktonic). Some oceanic species live in the littoral zone (shore crabs).
Other crabs have adapted to live holes that they dig on land (land crabs) and inhabit the forest floor or forage in trees (eg the coconut crab).
However all crabs must return to the ocean to lay their eggs and this can cause spectacular events such as the Christmas Island crab migrations.
it may be yards because i always see them in my yard
Apparently it's either a cast of crabs or a dose of crabs. Google it for more info.
yes crabs are echinoderms because they have spiny skin
In a habitat
you can put sand or stones in a crabs habitat my fiddler crab enjoys hiding under rocks and other things that he can fit into he will go into and space he can to hide so you can put large stones in for them to hide under. i bought a smalldome kind of thing that has a bottem layer then stones on either side to hold a large piece on top of it so he likes to go in there cuz he can sit in the water. also you can buy them beds at the pet store they like those. but all crabs need water so put water in it some crabs need salt water and some need normal water and mine needs part salt and part clean. so i hope this helps :)
Sand crabs breathe through gills, in the same way that fish do. On land, sand crabs breathe by keeping their gills moist to facilitate the absorption of oxygen in the air.
I think that shrimp live with the hermit crabs.
in crevices
in a decidus forest :)
Why does a crab she'll help it survive in his habitat
Humans are destroying the horseshoe crabs habitat. We cut things down (trees for example) for our own selfish needs (no offense). After that we build things witch kills animals including the horseshoe crabs.
you kill the fiddler crab
One of the blue crabs' habitats is in estuaries. The pH tolerance is 6-8.
yes but in a appropiat habitat like the beach
They should live in water or beaches.
For land hermit crabs: Tropical or sub-tropical beaches/jungles. For marine hermit crabs: Oceas, seas, tidepools, beaches of all latitudes.
They need 70-80 F and 70-85% humidity
It depends, for example: A dolphin ate all the salmon. The salmon ate tons of crabs in its area, tons of the crabs suddenly populated. After a while the crabs populated too much in the dolphin's territory.
