A trade union is a group of workers that work together to try to gain better employment benefits. Since they are all workers, they work to advance or protect their interests by negotiating better work terms with the employers.
A workers success is measured by how well she or he does the job.
In order to pull a team together there needs to be communication with workers to state their preferences. Celebrating the team's success is also important.

Collective bargaining is when workers come together to negotiate with management. This is a union's purpose. The may be negotiating for higher wages, higher safety standards, more/less hours, etc etc, but the point is that the workers do it as one entity (hence collective).
