It depends on the context. Perhaps the most neutral word is inquisitive.

Because there are a lot of questions that are asked on this website and we sometimes can't ALWAYS deal with the ones that come. There are a lot of people with a lot of knowledge of a certain category, or specific questions and sometimes that person is not always active, or doing something else.
There are a lot of questions that would be considered to be the best questions to ask an Olympian. One question would be 'What type of workout do you perform?'. Another good question would be 'What do you find most exciting about competing at the Olympic level?'
