NEW ANSWER: I used to suffer from insomnia... really bad. I wouldn't sleep for nights on end and sometimes end up sleeping all day. But one day I just stayed up for 24hrs. straight.. and it may be hard to believe but when I slept that night, I slept beautifully, not only did I sleep great that night... but ALL nights to follow. A good herbal treatment for insomnia is valerian tea, made with valerian root.
It helps to relax and sleep will come naturally without side effects.
It has an odd smell but that can be countered by mixing valerian with other calming herbs to make the tea.
