A TRIAC is a solid state AC switch. It has three terminals, MT1, MT2, and Gate. Load current passes through MT1 and MT2. In order for it to turn on, the Gate must be greater than MT1, in the same direction as MT2 is to MT1. One way to turn it on is to connect a resistor from MT2 to Gate. To turn it off, connect MT1 to gate.
Once the TRIAC is turned on in a line cycle, it stays on until the end of that line cycle. This behavior can be used to create a dimmer by delaying the point in the cycle where the Gate is triggered.
Note that the gate trigger voltage is not symmetrical. This can lead to a DC bias in the output. One way to resolve this is with a DIAC, which is like a TRIAC, but with the Gate missing - it will conduct in both directions at the same point - used in series with the Gate, it will help balance the TRIAC's symmetry.

triac act as a ac contactor
An SCR is a rectifier and can only conduct in one direction (half wave).A Triac can conduct in both directions (full wave).
If it is rated to do so, yes.
gunn diode is transfered electron device & PIN diode is semiconductor device
The SCR and TRIAC are essentially controlled diodes.
A DIAC is simply a diode that breaks down at predictable voltage.A TRIAC is a 3 terminal device that will conduct whether the anode is at a positive or a negative potential, controlled by a gate.Another answerThey are AC versions of the SCR and diode respectively. Do you need more details?
A: Any device whether it be diode, led, scr, triac and so forth has characteristic of current/voltage behaviour as these I/v are varied
Triac-Lautrait's population is 454.
The diac and the triac are used to control the AC lines. The difference is that triac are bigger than diac.
The area of Triac-Lautrait is 6,400,000.0 square meters.

TRIAC is the word derrived from the 2 words TRIode and AC.

A gateless triac is a diac. It is often used in the gate circuit of a triac to balance out the firing voltage for the triac in both quadrants, so that there is no DC offset in the controlled load. This is because, while the gate trigger voltage is often asymmetric in the two quadrants, the M1/M2 breakdown voltage is often symmetric.
