Like many of these questions, this one cannot have a single answer. The question you need to ask yourself is what "better"means. Also, you need to keep in mind that an AK (it was never designated AK-47 in USSR) is the original version of that firearm, with the milled steel receiver. AKM, a later development of the design, would be the stamped steel one most people think of.
AK
* Makes a bigger hole due to the larger caliber - 7.62mm * Is generally sturdier * Is cheaper to produce in quantity * Is simple to learn and use
M4
* Is shorter and lighter, easier to carry * Has lighter ammunition, easier to carry more ammo * Can take an infinite variety of accessories * Is easier to shoot accurately * Has much better ergonomics
In short, the better gun depends on the resources and the soldiers. An AK is better for a poor country needing to get armed in a hurry. An M4 is better for countries with money for the gun itself and a good training budget.
For a private individual it is mostly a matter of personal preference.
The M4 CARBINE IS BETTER THAN THE M16.
An M4 carbine would be better under almost all circumstances. It is lighter, more accurate at range (Assuming both have their stock sights), and more controllable in full auto mode. However, the AK47 is a cold war-era weapon while the M4A1 are much more modern. A more debatable and relevant question would be "Which is better, an M4 or an AK74?"
In very general terms, the AK will handle harsh environments better with less user maintenance. The M4 is more accurate at longer ranges. Which is better depends on you and your needs. __________________________________________________ This contributor has fired an AK47 variant (Finnish Valmet) and it is accurate out to 500 meters. The AK is heavy as hell, but it is rugged, reliable, and nearly unbreakable. If the M4 is more accurate at longer ranges, it is probably because of improved ammunition.

The AK 47 Is Better Then m4
m4 <><><> You would have to define better. The M4 has a greater range, the AK a heavier bullet, the M4 a faster bullet, you can carry more ammo for an M4, the AK needs less maintenance, the M4 has a higher rate of fire- and so on.
M4 is the carbine- shorter barrel
No one will give you an M4 rifle/carbine for free.
Well first off, I'm gonna head to the category everyone wants in a good gun. This is probably the most important thing when comparing guns. In this category it is no contest. The M4 blows the AK47 out of the water in this. Next we turn to reliabilty. Where the M4 struggles. The AK47 can shoot in any condition you throw at it. The M4 has had a little bit of trouble. Now we turn to attachments. In this, the AK47 again fails to compete with its rival. Now I give the final answer. What's better? The M4. Why? It's simple. When I think of the AK47, I think of an overrated, not so good gun. It's reliable, but you can't attach much to an AK. Another thing that helps bring it down is it's accuracy problems. When fighting, you want a nice accurate gun. Every shot you miss the target exposes you more. They are also pretty equal in terms of firepower. The answer is simple. The M4.
The Colt M4 Carbine .22 is a replica of the real M4 but in .22 caliber.
There is an M4 carbine in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
The M4 carbine has a muzzle velocity of 2,970fps(884m/s).
