Often these terms are used interchangeably to describe "nuclear weapons" since an atomic bomb derives it's energy from a nuclear chain reaction. What you may be referring to is that the original test and subsequent bombs dropped on Japan during WWII were fission bombs with the Trinity test bomb and Nagasaki bomb being implosion style fission bombs using Plutonium and the Hiroshima bomb being a gun style fission bomb using Uranium. Subsequently, the United States began testing the early prototypes of the modern style warheads which are called thermonuclear weapons because they use a fission bomb to ignite a nuclear fusion reaction which produces a substantially larger yield than the initial fission bombs. The first test of a thermonuclear weapon was a hydrogen bomb detonated in 1952. So in terms of yield, the modern style thermonuclear weapons are drastically more efficient than the early fission bombs.
This is a war fought using Atomic weapons. Atomic weapons are weapons that use Nuclear fission explostion producing tremendous pressure and radiation. Later nuclear weapons were called hydrogen bombs that use nuclear fussion.
no
Plutonium for nuclear weapons is obtained in special nuclear reactors for plutonium-239.
Yes, nuclear weapons can be scrapped. The radioactive materials can be used in nuclear power plants.
Nothing but the terminology. "Atomic" was the term used in the early days of nuclear weapons and nuclear power. "Nuclear" (describing the fission process of nuclear power and nuclear weapons) became the term when fusion bombs became reality, as Atomic can refer to both fission and fusion processes.
ATOMIC WAR is a war that have nuclear and atomic devices used in a form of warfare. atomic war can become catastrophic for the amounts of radiation remaing from the nuclear weapons.
well the bomb probably didn't and nuclear weapons don't help but nuclear technology has made several things better in industry, medicine and so forth.
Nuclear energy and atomic energy are the same thing.
Cold War=Created by Nuclear Weapons (Atomic Weapons). LBJ was limited by the threat of atomic war. If nuclear weapons never existed, then the Vietnam War could've been fought like any other pre-atomic age war...invasion, using all weapons available (except for the non existing atomic weapons)...etc...etc.
There were tests of nuclear weapons but no other nuclear weapons were dropped on other nations as an act of war. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the only uses of atomic weapons on other nations.
The United States used the atomic bomb offensively during WWII. That is pretty close to nuclear weapons.
That in the atomic age (atomic weapons) only limited wars can be fought. Nuclear weapons would mean total war.
