The value depends on the date (such 1 February 1923 versus later a date in 1923), and of course the condition. Details like whether or not there is a black letter T under the portrait but about the note number are also of some significance. 1923 was the height of the Great Inflation, and most notes from the period are not particularly valuable.
Your note dates from the hyperinflationary period that followed WW1 due to sanctions imposed on Germany by the Allies. Unfortunately it's a fairly common note and retails for maybe $1 or so depending on how worn it is.
To illustrate how bad inflation was, in 1920 US$1 was equivalent to about 50 marks. When your note was printed, it was also worth $1. By the end of 1923 it took 4,200,000,000,000 marks to equal that same dollar.
I can't find a listing for a 20,000 mark note with that date. The closest match is February 20, and in average condition it retails for about $1.50
In any case, by September of 1923 German hyperinflation was so uncontrolled that the smallest bills were denominated in millions of marks.
The 4th, 1923 Issue in did not include a 20,000 Mark denomination, 100,000 was the smallest value. There was a 20,000 Mark note issued in February 1923, which is worth about $15-$30 in perfect uncirculated condition.
As of 03/2010 a circulated note retails for about $1.25 - $1.50, while an uncirculated one sells for about $4.
These bills were issued during the infamous hyperinflation suffered by Weimar Germany after WWI. They became worthless almost as soon as they were printed so it's still relatively easy to find ones that have little or no wear.
I can't find a 2 million mark note with that exact date; the nearest one is August 9, 1923. If that's what you have, sammler.com, a major German collectibles site, lists a value of about $1.10 for a note in average condition and $3.30 for an uncirculated one.
The bill's enormous denomination was the result of hyperinflation during the failed Weimar Republic. The government frantically printed ever-larger bills as prices skyrocketed. When first issued, that 2 million mark note was worth perhaps 50 US cents. Within weeks, its purchasing power had fallen to less than a dime, and by October of 1923 it was worth less than the paper it was printed on.
The median value of a Reichsmark in 1923 is best expressed as '$ 1,- equals 5 billion Reichsmark'. 20,000 Reichsmark would then be equal in value to 1/250,000 of $1,- or 0.000004 dollarcent. As to the note's collector's value, it is for sale on Ebay at $2.50.
Well that's alot less thank you ... but what about as a collectors item?

The value of a 20,000 mark Reichsbanknote dated June 12, 1918 depends on its condition and rarity. Generally, it could be worth anywhere from a few dollars to over $50 to collectors. It is recommended to consult with a currency collector or appraiser for a more accurate valuation.

You cannot (answer dated 10 September 2011).
A post dated check can be cashed, but only when enough time has elapsed that the current date is equal to or later than the date of the check. Banks require a current date on checks.
