Hydrocodone is never sold in the US without being mixed with either Tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil (ibuprofen). I'm not sure, but I do believe the ibuprofen/hydrocodone combination has been taken off the market... Sometime in 2005/2006?

Hydrocodone is plant-based, but it is synthetic (meaning man-made). In other words, it is a synthetic form of opium derived from the poppy plant (yes, similar to heroin). It is that way because of its pain-relieving properties. So the synthetic part of it is other chemicals that are in the chemical property (makeup) of the drug.

Hydrocodone as a medication is the generic form of hydrocodone-containing medications. It is often combined with APAP (acetaminophen). Some brand names that contain hydrocodone are Lortab and Vicodin.

hydrocodone is a single chemical compound. It is, in essence, its own active ingredient. However it is almost always combined with acetaminophen (Tylenol), Ibuprofen or aspirin and marketed as Vicodin, Lortab, Lorcet... or prepared as a cough syrup (Tussionex, Polytussin, Endal HC). So to answer the questionin retrospect, the active ingredient in Vicodin, Lortab, Tussionex, and so forth is hydrocodone.

*I should add, hydrocodone the active NARCOTIC component of the ingredients in these products. They may contain other ACTIVE ingredients such as acetaminophen, aspirin, etc. and decongestants or expectorants (common in cough syrups that contain hydrocodone.)

Well pure cocaine contains nothing but cocaine (benzoylmethylecgonine), however it usually gets 'cut' with another, usually, inert agent as it moves down the supply chain. Norco's, like Vicodin, are a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Though it seems as though the ratio of hydrocodone to acetaminophen seems to be what separates the difference between the two.

Both are single-ingredient drugs, with hydrocodone simply being a chemically modified form of the codeine molecule.

Does hydrocodone contain acetaminophen?

i don't know my grandma needs to know Hydrocodone can be combined with aspirin. But hydrocodone is a drug itself, that does not contain any aspirin. Check the packaging, does it contain just hydrocodone in the ingredients? or does it have other ingredients. Paracetamol, aspirin, ibuprofen are all drugs that can be added to help prevent the abuse of the drug.
