Normally a large prayer hall flanked by an enclosure where the idols of Gods and Goddesses are kept. The enclosure (sanctum sanctorum) would have a passage around it for parambulating, which is a part of worship. Outside the main temple, there could be other temples in the same compound and some times a reservoir for people to take bath before entering the temple.
Some things typically found in a Hindu shrine are incense and sacred images or statues. Some include pictures of the deity that the shrine is dedicated too.
