The term "indigenous architecture" refers to structures made by empirical builders, without the intervention of professional architects. It is the most traditional and widespread way to build. The word "indigenous" means originating in and characteristic of a particular region or country, native, and inherited. Therefore, the indigenous architecture the method introduced by local people, inspired by place history and culture, and executed by normal people using local materials.

It may be referred to as "Native, Traditional, vernacular" although it may have slight differences.
