Khun is a pronounciation of "คุณ" in Thai language.
That word is used in the same as Mr. Mrs. or Miss, but "khun" can use both male and female. "Khun" is used when we would like to call someone politely or someone we dont know their gender.
Such as.. We get an e-mail from Prachya and we need to contact him/her by the phone. (Prachya is a male's name, but some of women can name like this too.) If we not sure, we can call him/her as "khun Prachya".
(In Thai language also have "Nuy = Mr" / "Nang = Mrs" / "NangSao = Miss" .)

Khun means you. It is also used politely in front of a name, eg, Khun John, rather like Mister John. So when Thai children shout out 'Khun, khun' to get your attention, they are being polite, shouting "Sir, sir", and not "You, you".
