Okay, say a certain bacteria died in a small creek. not too much loss, right? Wrong. You might not think so, but that bacteria is very important. It's what is called a keystone species. If that bacteria died out, the little bugs that feed on that bacteria wouldn't be able to get the food they need and would die out. Then, the little fish that feed on those little bugs wouldn't have enough food. As a result, the little fish would die out as well. Then, the population of birds that fed on that little fish would deplete, or go down. The birds would then migrate to another area and eat the fish there. The problem with that, though is that it would be competition for the other birds already living in the area, and their population would also deplete, until, eventually, there would be no more birds like that left. Then we humans who might hunt that certain bird as food, would be out of dinner. That's why humans should care about wildlife and habitat loss.

Biodiversity means the variety of animal species of animals and plants living in an environment. Simply put, loss of it means that the amount of species in a region is decreasing.

Biodiversity is sometimes also used to include the genes of species.

It takes away animals homes then they don't have anywhere to live. They usually end up dying. Its like if your house was taken away. Then you wouldn't have anywhere to live. You would either have to find a new home or you would end up dying. If they don't die, then they start coming into our habitat or whatever. They start coming into the roads or eating out of your garbage. If they run into the road then they can get hit by a car or if animals that are harmful to humans they might end up killing a person or several. Or they end up getting killed if we decide that we should kill it because it killed a human.

Benefits of wildlife resources?

Benefits to Science, Agriculture, & MedicineStudies indicate that woodpeckers are capable of destroying 90% of codling moth larvae residing under the bark of trees. This shows the significance of wildlife and wildlife habitat for preserving genetic diversity. Hence, places where agriculture, forests, and fisheries depend on crops or stocks can ensure that such living resources are enough to withstand the ever-increasing list of threats. Further, in medicine, development of new drugs and treatments are largely dependent on wildlife and wildlife habitat. Interestingly, most pharmaceutical products are a result of discovering or developing wildlife species and not discoveries through the traditional chemistry principles. Today, most medicinal remedies contain at least one ingredient derived from a wild plant or animal
