I believe in most all cases the oil pump is a replace type part as opposed to a repair part.
Just any normally equipped tool box or tool kit will have most items you will need, and I strongly recommend while at the parts store getting the oil pump, gasket kit, replacement oil and filter, you pick up a Haynes or Chiltons manual for your specific model car.
