Polygenic means that multiple genes created the same trait. The skin color gene is polygenic because multiple genes will give you the same trait.
Because due to Multiple genes
Physical traits and behaviors that enable organisms to survive and reproduce in their environment
Traits control by two or more genes
Skin color, height, weight
their characteristics
Polygenic? Natural selection usually acts on the phenotype of polygenic traits as they are suites of genes acting in concert to form a trait. If you had a trait, such as height, in two variant brothers then the aggregate would need to be selected for as the genes working in concert, but not equally well, would render different heights in the brothers which would be then visible to natural selection.
characteristics are like traits. traits are within the gene in a cell. And a gene is among the DNA strands in a chromosome. And a chromosome is in the nucleus. and the nucleus is in the cell. And cells are in organisms.
Characteristics (traits) such as height, foot size, and hand span are controlled by the genes you have.
Traits that are produced by the interaction of several genes are called polygenic traits. Examples of polygenic traits are height and skin color.

Polygenic Traits
Traits that are controlled a multiple gene loci. Polygenic traits.
Multiple alleles are "the existence of more than two alleles (versions of the gene) for a genetic traits. Polygenic traits are "[characteristics of organisms that are] influenced by several genes." So multiple alleles are more than two alleles for one trait, and polygenic traits are one trait that is influenced by multiple genes. This information came from my biology textbook, "Biology: Principles and Explorations" by Holt, Rinehart, and Winston.

"Polygenic" is the term that refers to the determination of a given trait that is a result of the interaction of many genes. Traits such as height, skin, color are polygenic. Polygenic traits do not show the phenotypic ration that charecterizes Mendelian Inheritance eventhough the trait is inherited as stated by Gregor Mendel. Many Polygenic traits are often influenced by the environmental factors.
