Postural hypotension
The most common symptoms of orthostatic hypotension include weakness, lightheadedness, cognitive impairment, blurred vision, vertigo and tremulousness.
To perform an orthostatic test, have the person lie down for a few minutes, then measure their heart rate and blood pressure. Next, have them stand up and repeat the measurements after 1-3 minutes. A diagnosis of orthostatic hypotension is made if there is a significant drop in blood pressure upon standing.
