What is corex technology in steel making and why it is called so?

Corex is a smelting-reduction process developed by Siemens , for the cost-efficient and environmentally friendly production of hot metal from iron ore and coal. The process differs from the conventional blast furnace route in that non-coking coal can be directly used for ore reduction and melting work, eliminating the need for coking plants. The use of lump ore or pellets also dispenses with the need for sinter plants. All metallurgical work is carried out in two separate process reactors - the reduction shaft and the melter gasifier. Lump ore, sinter, pellets or a mixture are charged into a reduction shaft where they are reduced to direct-reduced iron (DRI) by a reduction gas. Discharge screws convey the DRI from the reduction shaft into the melter gasifier where final reduction and melting takes place in addition to all other metallurgical and slag reactions. Prove that poissons' ratio is 0.5?

since k=E/3(1-2n): where k=bulk modulus and n=poision's ratio it can be seen that value of poision's ratio can't be smaller than 0.5 in order to keep k be +ve.hence poision's ratio is 0.5

How do you calculate grain depression?

Grain depression is a reduction of the humidity ratio/specific humidity expressed as a difference between ambient air and the output of a dehumidifier. It can also be expressed between two area differentials. The calculation is made by finding the Humidity Ratio of each area. The Humidity Ratio (or specific humidity) can be found by using the psychrometric chart. Once found, the HR of the ambient air is reduced by the HR of the dehumidifier output giving a depression (or reduction of grains of water in the air) of the Humidity Ratio. In short, this shows how well the dehumidifier is functioning.

What is a posteriori reduction?
