The importance of the birth of Jesus Christ, is that God in human form, was born like an ordinary person. He was born to people of lower income, in humble circumstances. Accounts say that angels appeared in the sky and spoke to humble sheep herders, and that there was a "shining star" to light the way for astronomers (wise people). The birth of Jesus Christ inspired King Herod the first, to kill as many infants as possible in an attempt to get rid of a competing king. The real importance is that God wanted people to live a better way, so he took the form of a person in Jesus and was born and died like any other human to show people how to live by His example. He wanted the poor to identify with him, because poor people need someone to look up to and inspire them in their poverty. The rich and powerful have money and power and don't need any help. The have not need all the help they can get.
Jesus is the Son of God. That he came to earth as a man is in itself, significant. Also, there were many prophesies about Jesus' coming in the Old Testament, so the Jews of the time were on lookout for someone like Jesus. He is promised to be their Savior and to save them from their sin. This promise still holds today, thus his birth is a special occasion.
The birth of Jesus Christ was of most importance, as his birth divided time. - The years before his birth are called BC (Before Christ), and the years after his birth are called AD (Anno Domini or the year of our Lord)
It proved to the non believers that he was gonna come to earth
and save us from eternal death by dying at the cross
