the basic difference is wage employment is basically u work under some one and u receive the salary but where as self employment is u are the income earning owner of the activity u give salaries to people who are working under u

∙ 15y agoWhen you perform work for someone else or their company or corporation, you are paid a wage in the course of your employment. An example would be a barista at Starbucks. With this kind of work or employment, as long as you perform your job well and obey company policies, you are likely to be rewarded with pay (wages), benefits (insurance, 401k, etc.), and some sense of job security. When you start up your own service or company you embark upon an entrepreneurial venture. An example would be a winner of American Idol. In an entrepreneurial venture, you get paid when you work or perform but this can be irregular; you pay for your own benefits; and you are responsible for continuing to find work.
