Have you ever heard of roller blade bearings? Do you know their applications? According to this name, we can predict that this type of bearing can be used in rollerblades. It is an integral part of inline skates. There are different types and specifications of roller blade bearings. Therefore, in order to make your skates get the best performance, you should choose the proper bearing products carefully.

There are many things for you to take into consideration. First of all, you should make sure that what size of bearings your skates are designed for. Secondly, you may have to learn what kind of bearing is the most suitable. For example, Titanium, Swiss and bearings are higher-end bearings typically used by skaters who are looking for high performance. Ceramic bearings are said to produce less friction, thereby allowing them to spin faster, while Swiss bearings are considered to have higher manufacturing standards.

Thirdly, you have to pay attention to the different bearing ratings. ABEC system is a standardized system that was originally designed for bearings used in machinery. Besides, the ILQ and SG ratings use a similar scale to ABEC--1 to 9 using odd numbers--with the higher number being the more precise bearing. These bearings are manufactured specifically for skating.

When the roller blade bearings are put into use, you should maintain them regularly. The most common maintenance method is that you should clean them at regular intervals because the dirt and other debris builds up inside rollerblade wheel bearings between the protective shields or seals, thus ball bearings and crown-and the oil inside the bearings thickens. As a result, the bearings will malfunction and the rollerblade wheels roll less smoothly across surfaces and may even make wheel noise. Thus, the proper cleaning can prevent the rollerblade bearings from bearing damaged.

To clean them thoroughly, you should follow some steps. At first, you may have to remove your rollerblade wheels by unscrewing the wheel bolts counterclockwise and then pull the wheels. Then you may push or pry the bearings from the wheels with a bearing tool, and place the tool along the inner edge of bearings with seamless standard or no spacers and push both through the wheels.

After that, you should insert the tip of a pushpin or craft utility knife into the seam at the outer edge of a shield or seal on the first bearing and then pop the shield or seal from the bearing. Fourthly, you may drop your bearings into a container which is filled with cleaner or acetone. Wipe non-metal shields or seals with a soft dry or damp cloth and set aside. You should clean them until you can not see any debris. At last, you should place the bearings on a dry cloth to dry them. After then, you can apply a bearing lubricant onto them and then reassemble the parts.
