What is the best element in the periodic table and why?

For destructive power go for francium. If you want radioactive go for uranium or plutonium. group 1 metals have higher destructive power when you go down the list and group 7 elements have higher destructive power at the top of the list. group 1 elements need water or air to react. The further away the outermost shell in the atom the more powerful the explosion.

Carbon. Life is literally impossible without it. Carbon's ability to form so many different molecular chain and ring structures gives it unique and versatile chemical properties. The two common crystal structures of carbon are quite different to each other, yet both will resist very high temperatures. Graphite is very soft, flexible, lubricant, electrically conductive, black and opaque, while Diamond is very hard, inflexible, abrasive, electrically insulating and transparent. The discovery of Carbon Nanotubes, produced from Graphite in an electric arc, has given us the possibility of producing materials with a wide range of desirable mechanical, thermal, electrical and magnetic properties.

If I had to choose one element and label it "the best," I'd choose carbon because it is so versatile. You will find it in precious stones, fuels and the chemicals and polymers made from those fuels, and in every living thing on this planet.
