The best time to catch largemouth is usually at first light throughout spring and fall. Bass tend to begin spawning as early as late Feb and into June depending on the region. In general, when the water begins to warm up to the 60's F they will begin preying heavily on small fish, frogs, crayfish and generally whatever they can fit into their gaping mouths. During the cooler days of spring and fall, they tend to be active all day especially when the sky is overcast. Also watch out for cold fronts coming in and storm fronts breaking as this often leaves them 'sulking' and very inactive. During the hot summer months, they are generally very active at first light and in the late evening and can easily be caught by popping top water baits across the surface. I have also landed many a bass from spinner baits as well as a variety of soft baits in vegetation and structured areas. As the heat of the day comes forth and the sun comes glaring down, the bass tend to suspend in the deeper parts of the water, especially where a cooler stream flows in near the bottom. You can fish this time of the day just be sure to think 'deeper' and use deep diving crank baits, Texas rigged soft plastics and jigs.

Also try deep points with Carolina rigs in summer.

Well for me, bass fishing starts in the spring, about the last of march and will last all spring and summer. I will also fish in the fall for bass, but i really begin to focus on deer hunting around September so i for get fishing at this point. In the spring is when bass begin to spawn and this is when they are in the shallow waters. Fishing in lakes at this point is at an all time high. You want ot focus on fishing in coves and around a lot of cover, bass can be found in waters as little as 2 feet deep. Now in the summer I really love wading creeks and small rivers for bass fishing. Ultralight tackle is required for this, but you do not have to use it, you can use what ever is comfortable to you. I like the creeks because of the redeye populations that inhabit the waters. they are good eating and very fun to catch. Now for catfish, I will again start about last of April or the first of June and fish for catfish all summer long,up until August, because the last of July and the first few weeks of august are the spawning times in ky. Baits to use for catfishing, my favorite is nightcrawlers, but people have their own favorite baits to use. Some people prefer nightcrawlers, some prefer to make their own mixture of things . but i love catching night crawlers at night after a rain, and so that is my bait of choice. Remember it is hard to out fish live bait.

What is the best weather for bass fishing?

"Fish like cold, wet weather. They like it when it rains. At these times, the fish are more active, so they bite more. When it is hot outside, the fish are less active." That is completely wrong. it all depends on water temperature, Ph levels of water, moon phases, spawning times, feeding periods, surf, tide, cover and density of fish population, and thermaclines. I am a professional bass angler, and have done extensive studies of fish habits and there interaction with the environment around them. Without a doubt the easiest time to catch fish is when they are spawning. When this is happening, hormones in the fish rise about 2 times the average amount, they become more territorial, more aggressive towards other fish in the ecosystem, and tend not to lay up in cover and wait for a bite to eat but rather find food. The best weather that supports this is what the fish are accustom to spawning in, and that can range from cold water, to very warm water, depending on the fish you are trying to catch. But for an average fisherman, good knowledge is , a few hours before a storm, or in a slightly over cast day, depending on the fish. Dusk fishing, can rep good benefits also, as well as morning. But it is best to know how to present your bait, and how to locate the fish that will help the most.
