Can you run speakers with an amplifier that has a bigger rms rating than the speakers rms rating For example run an 80 watt rms speakers with a 120 watt rms amplifier?

Yes you can. Contrary to popular belief, an amplifier rated with a higher output than the speaker rating rarely damage the speakers. If the amplifier overdrives the speakers, the sound quality will be dramatically affected. Most listeners will turn the level down to reduce the distortion being heard. The amplifier's power rating is the maximum power that it can produce and it does not mean the output power will be at that level. On the other hand, an amplifier that is overloaded will deliver distorted signals to the speakers. At high power levels, the distortion can be damaging to the speakers in a way that simply over driving a speaker is not. Therefore, it is as safe to use an overpowered amplifier with speakers as it is an amplifier that is rated at the same power or even lower power than the speakers.

What is the best way to wire your subs to get the most power?

You get more power by wiring the speakers in parallel, but you need to verify that the amplifier can handle that configuration or you may blow the amp.

Will my 2 speakers both 140W blow with a 450W amplifier?

Yes, most likely. If your speakers are rated for 140w each then it's possible to blow them if your amp drives em at full power. If you do hook them up then find a way to limit the volume or output of your amp. Sophisticated amps and stereos have settings that allow you to do this.

How to Choose the Perfect Car Amplifier?

Adding an amplifier to your car is definitely the best way to improve the sound of your car's stereo system. If you are interested in picking the best car amplifier for your vehicle, you may want to do a few certain things first. Before You ShopBefore you actually go shopping for a car amp you need to do a few things. For example, you need to find out where you want to put the speakers and the amp. Measure the area in your car and write down this information. This can help you pick out the right amplifier for your car. You should also make sure that you pick a spot with plenty of breathing room so the amplifier does not overheat. You should also gather all of the technical information about your speakers and your stereo before you go shopping.Ask for Help from a SalespersonThe best way for you to start looking for the right car amplifier is for you to ask an experienced salesperson about their opinion. They can help you pick the right amp with the right power rating. Most of this is based on your personal musical taste, the type of speakers that you currently own, and the type of stereo that is installed in your car.Compare Power Ratings< p> You should choose around two or three amplifiers that you are interested. After you have picked two or three amps that you are interested in, you should compare the power ratings. You can compare a car amplifier's power rating by looking at the voltage, the frequency, or the ohms ratings. The most common form of amplifier comparison is the ohms ratings. The average amplifier features four ohms. Listen to the Car AmplifierNow you need to ask a salesperson to hook the amplifier you want up to a radio and to a set of speakers that are like the radio and speakers that you have in your car. Listen to the amplifier and figure out if you like what you hear. Continue doing this until you find the car amplifier that sounds the best to you.Consider the Size of the AmplifierDo not purchase a car amplifier without checking the size of the amplifier. You need to make sure that the car amplifier can fit into the space that you have available in your vehicle.

How do you replace speakers?

unbolt them, look at the wires on the back and hook them the same way to the new ones and bolt the new ones back in..... pretty easy

If you replace a 4 ohm speaker with an 8 ohm speaker can the amplifier blow the speaker?

A1: The output impedance of a power amplifier is always less than 0.1 ohms. There are no 4 ohm amplifiers on the market! A2: I actually just bought a new car radio/CD player that specifically shows 4 ohm speakers on the sticker. It is designed to work optimally with 4 ohm speakers. If you use 8 ohm instead, it will work, but you will not get the full power output that is specified. The amp can only kick out so much voltage and so much amperage - if it is designed for 4 ohm speakers, and 200 watts (stereo, so 100 watts per speaker), it can supply 20 volts (P = V^2 / R). If you used 8 ohm speakers to this amplifier, each speaker would only get 50 watts powered at full output voltage. Alternatively, if it is designed for 8 ohm speakers and 100 watts per speaker, it can provide 40 volts. If you used 4 ohm speakers instead, each speaker could be given 200 watts at 40 volts, resulting in severe overheating and damage to the amplifier.

What is the best way to hook up your performance teknique icbm-775 ca amplifier to 2 10's and 2 6x9s?

Your amplifier is a 4-channel amplifier. For that reason, you should just connect one speaker per channel. You should make sure that your speakers are on matched pairs of channels. Most 4-channel amps are labeled with a front pair (left and right) and a rear pair (also left and right). You need to make sure, for instance, that you 6x9's are both on the front pair (one left, one right) and that the 2 subs are both on the rear pair (one left, one right). This will provide you the most stable configuration for the amp and will allow you the best control for crossover frequencies.
