"Greenland" may have received its name because it was one of the few places that far north that had substantial vegetation on its southern coast, especially during a warmer period from 800 to 1300 AD. The large permanent ice cap can partially thaw on its surface, and there are many glaciers around its periphery (the source of icebergs). On the ocean coasts, the climate varies substantially from summer to winter. Coastal regions on the northern half of Greenland experience very cold winter temperatures, but slightly warmer than the continental Arctic, with average January temperatures of −30 °C to −25 °C (−22 °F to −13 °F). Summer temperatures average between −12 °C and 0 °C (10 °F and 32 °F). In the south, temperatures have a warmer average, between −20 °C to 0°C in the winter. Average temperatures can exceed 10°C in the summer. Little precipitation occurs in the northernmost area around Peary Land, in contrast to the interior and southern coast. The prevalence of Atlantic cyclones brings from 400 to 1200 mm (16 to 47 inches) of annual precipitation along the southern coast. In some areas, the high coastal mountains will generate extreme amounts, up to 2200 mm (87 inches) yearly.
The effect of Greenland on people included climate change.
Greenland has a tundra climate as well as an icecap climate. The interior of Greenland is covered by a gigantic icecap. In fact, some scientists believe Greenland is really composed of three different islands, and only appears to be one giant island due to the icecap. The weather here is obviously extremely freezing. The tundra climate is also extremely freezing. Greenland is one of the coldest places on the planet.
Greenland
No,normally in greenland, there aren't trees because greenland have got an arctic climate in the polar zone. But in the southern part of greenland there is a subpolar zone with a warmer climate and there grow trees
Really cold.Winter all year round.
Mostly different.
Climate change is the dominant reason why.
No
Because its closer to the equator.
artic to subarctic has cool summers and hrshly cold winters
because of a climate change in the weather. the wheather in greenland dirastically dropped forcing the vikings to explore new lands
Australia's land area is greater than that of Greenland.Australia is the smallest continent and Greenland is the largest island.Greenland has an overall higher elevation than Australia.Australia's climate varies between temperate, tropical and even alpine in some regions. Greenland's climate is generally Arctic, with some variations along the coastal regions.Australia is in the southern hemisphere while Greenland is in the northern hemisphere.Australia has a predominance of marsupials and parrots, neither of which live in Greenland.
