All three antagonists, the sea, the marlin and the sharks are forces of nature which Santiago must overcome.

When doing this you should mostly be focusing on the main characters part but if u have to do all characters you should do the same. The external conflict is mostly outside of the characters it can be a conflict with other characters society nature or fate you would have to know which conflict the character(s) are facing using what I just mentioned.
