From new moon (I think 'no moon' might have been misspelled or misheard as new moon) we see,
Waxing Crescent
First Quarter
Waxing Gibbous
Full Moon.

Thanks to Paracelcus, as the above has been sent by him only. I have just recommended and written on his message board. By mistake my name has been selected as I have answered first. Actually credits must go to friend Paracelcus.
A gibbous means more than half but less than full.
Waxing means growing larger.
Waning means shrinking or getting smaller.
What you are actually seeing occur:
Moonlight is actually the sun shining on the part of the moon facing earth. Thus, were you standing on a part of the moon facing earth as we observe the transitional phases, that is what you would see around you -- the sun rising overhead as observes on earth see a waxing moon, noon when the sun is overhead, and afternoon and evening would be the waning moon, and midnight would be the full moon. Given the transition takes about 28 days, this means that is the length of a day on the moon -- 28 earth-days.
The cycle goes:
new moon
waxing crescent
first quarter
waxing gibbous
full moon
waning gibbous
third quarter
waning crescent
Starts again: new moon
Other things being equal, if there is no visible Moon, you have a clearer view of the stars. Under good conditions, you can see the Milky Way, and the zodiacal light. And you see many more stars than when the Moon is shining.
A new moon is a time when there is no moon/ all you see is the dark side of it.
When there is a full moon, you see as much of the bright side of the moon as possible.
These are two opposite times.
New moon: 0%
Full moon: 100%
Between new moon to full moon, the percentage would gradually increase.
that you cann see people waving
waxing
You can not see the new moon
You can see all three of these. The phase of the moon when it is not visible is called new moon.
Ariel is the moon of a superior planet (Uranus), so it's never between the Earth and the Sun. If we see it at all, we see it as a full moon.
The very first phase of the moon is called new moon. You cannot see it in the sky because it is not reflecting the sun's light. The full moon is when you can see the entire side of the moon, which is just reflecting the sun's light. The other phases are the intermediate steps between new-to-full, and then full-to-new. Usually the term phase refers to the appearance of the moon except the way its appearance changes during a lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipses always occur during the full moon phase.
Full Moon. A New Moon is when you can't see a moon at all.
This is the Full Moon.
You can not see the new moon
The "new moon" by definition is the moon phase where it is completely in the earth's shadow, and we cannot see it at all. New moon is the exact opposite of "full moon".
We see the full moon {the phase}.
