Anticipated means that the outcome or event is known in advance (or at least you believe you know it) and it's just a matter of waiting until it comes to pass.

Intended is why you plan for and try to make happen - but without a guarantee that it will happen. When two closely matched teams play each other in a sporting event the intended outcome for each team is to win. If one of the teams is grossly overconfident, they "anticipate" winning.

When Christmas rolls around, kids anticipate presents under the tree. Their parents intend for the kids to be happy about the presents. If one of the presents is one that a child has been begging and pleading for, they parents may anticipate a good reaction.

Anticipated means to wait for something or the idea that some action will happen. We watched the lightening in the distance and anticipated the thunder. Intended means that some action was done on purpose. He really intended to trip the other boy even though he denied it.
