A poached egg is not flipped over; an over easy egg is flipped over (easy).

EDIT: you are speaking about sunny-side up vs. over easy.

NOT what a poached egg is. Poaching means, in water. So the difference between a poached and over easy are many. The only thing in common is that you are cooking an egg.

Poached eggs are when you have a saucepan of boiling water and then with your fork, you swirl the water and drop the egg in without the shell. When it is done to your liking lift it out with a slotted spoon.

Basted eggs are when you have a frying pan and you set a kettle of water to boil, while cracking your eggs and putting them in the pan. When the water is boiled you take the kettle off and put a couple of tbs. or so of that water in your pan and let the egg(s) steam with a lid. When your egg is done how you like it, take it out with a pancake flipper.

Eat and enjoy!

A poached egg is 'poached' in hot water after first breaking the egg out of the shell, the egg is poached (or cooked) when the white is cooked and the yolk is still runny, a hard boiled egg is boiled in its shell for 7 to 8 minutes until it is cooked solid all the way through.

A hard boiled egg is cooked until solid all the way through, a normal 'soft' boiled egg the centre yolk will still be runny, To test the egg you need to do is spin the egg on a flat surface, if the egg is soft boiled it will wobble because part of the egg is still liquid, if it is hard boiled it will spin on end, because the contents are solid.
