Carbon from decayed vegetation goes through various stages due to heat and compression from peat moss through lignite, bituminous, anthracite, graphite, and eventually diamond. Each has a greater pure carbon content (and less water) than the previous, and therefore greater heating value when used as fuel, than the previous. Pure graphite and diamond, of course, are not considered coals, do not burn well (or at all) and are not used as fuels.
Coal is plant matter ( tress from the Carboniferous ) and oil is from micro-organic matter.
Wood is formed from plant matter like trees; coal is a type of rock that is formed under great pressure over millions of years.
These are same
Coke is made by heating coal in the absence of oxygen to about 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Hard coking coal forms high-strength coke, while soft coking coal produces a lesser quality coke.
Obsidian has a higher luster(shinier) than coal, coal is organic, and coal is sedimentary and obsidian is igneous

There is no difference. They were all formed from plant and animal life laid down and covered and compressed over millions of years ago.

peat is soft and the others aren't

difference between traditional sources of energy and coal
coal in the western areas has a lower energy content
