A Neurologist is someone who has satisfied all matriculation to practice medicine and the speciality of neurology. A neurophysiologist is a clinician or practitioner who has satisfied all requirements to perform electrodiagnostic workups on patients referred for evaluation of a potential neurological disorders. Often times the neurophysiologist is an M.D. However, a person with a Masters or PhD in Neuroscience is may also be considered a neurophysiologist if they work directly with the physiology of the central and peripheral nervous systems. In another since, neurophysiology is a sub-specialty of neurology, thus, only a neurologist can be classified to practice the medicinal aspects of neurophysiology. However, researchers, specialists, technologists may also be classified as neurophysiologists. A Neurologist who specializes in Epilepsy (Epileptologist) or Neuromuscular Medicine can be deemed a neurophysiologist, epileptologist, or neuromuscular specialist. This names are all synonymous.
