The numbers given include estimates based on counts in small communities, but even those numbers are not able to be considered exact. Since everyone who gets the flu does not seek medical attention or report their illness, they are not included in the counts. Also, everyone who has the flu is not tested to determine if the flu they have is swine flu or not. Therefore, the exact number is impossible to say.
