Simply stated, it is the area of the occipital lobe in the back of the brain responsible for processing visual information into an image that the person sees. The visual association cortex is responsible for associating these images with items the person knows. If you look at a set of keys with your eyes, the signal is processed into an image by the primary visual cortex, while the visual association cortex lets the brain know that you are looking at keys.

What is the function of the Primary Motor Cortex?

The primary motor cortex controls voluntary movements. Damage to the primary cortex would impact the ability to control voluntary movement.

Where is the primary sensory cortex located?

The primary sensory cortex (or primary somatosensory cortex) is part of the postcentral gyrus in the brain, which forms part of the parietal lobe. The main function of the primary sensory cortex is it is a receptor for the sense of touch.parietal lobe

What is the primary function of the perfrontal cortex?

What is the function of the auditory cortex?

The function of the auditory cortex is to process any auditory information that the cerebral cortex receives. The basic function of this system is hearing.

Where are taste impulses from?

Taste impulses are from a region in the brain called the primary gustatory cortex. The sense of taste is ultimately felt on various areas of the tongue where taste buds are present.

What is the name of the cortex that detects taste?

The primary gustatory cortex. Special sensory information for taste reaches the gustatory cortex via the chorda tympani and greater petrosal branch of the facial nerve, the lingual branch of the glossopharyngeal nerve, and the superior laryngeal branch of the vagus nerve. The special sensory information for taste originates in taste buds located on the upper surface of the tongue, soft palate, pharynx, and the upper part of the esophagus.

Where is the gustatory cortex is located?

Anterior portion of the insula and the adjacent portions of the frontal lobe.

Where is the gustatory nucleus located in the brain?

The gustatory cortex of the brain is located in the parietal lobe (which deals w/ many senses... keep in mind this part of the brain contains the somato-sensory cortex on the post-central gyrus and this lobe of the brain deals w/ integrating senses).

What cortex does the frontal lobe analyzes sensory information carried by nerve impulses from the tongue and taste receptors?

Gustatory

Where is the primary auditory cortex is located?

The primary auditory cortex is located in the Temporal Lobe of the brain.

Enumerate the brodman's area of the brain and specify their function?

Brodmann's areas are specific regions of the cerebral cortex. Some areas and their functions include: Area 4 (primary motor cortex) for voluntary movement, Area 17 (primary visual cortex) for visual perception, Area 41 and 42 (primary auditory cortex) for auditory processing, and Area 44 and 45 in the left hemisphere (Broca's area) for speech production.

What function of the gustatory receptors are parallel to what other receptors?

Olfactory receptors
