Yes and no. All bodily processes depend upon the transformation of sugars to ATP in the mitochondria; thus, sugars are necessary to and promote life. When consumed in excess, however, sugars are stored as fats. Fat is necessary in the body (to prevent bruising from light contact, in cell membranes, etc.), but may also be stored in unhealthy amounts.
Sugars, regardless of their "natural" or "processed" status are necessary to life. Therefore, consumed in appropriate quantities, natural and refined sugars are indeed healthy.
