The first phone with a 10 mega pixel camera came out in 2006
well I've seen cameras from 3.2 mega pixels to 144 mega pixels, but they may not be "available". so i wouldn't count on finding one of those in your local electronic store.

There are many of these knockoffs out there, but the best phone I found would be the flip video camera which as 5.0 mega pixels. Also cell phones now a days are turning into regular camera with 8 mega pixels.
The Canon 1D camera has 21 mega pixels. This is within the full 35mm frame. This is an average amount of mega pixels which means that it can stand up quite well against its competition in the digital camera market.
Mega-pixels do not equate to the quality of the image.More accurately, mega-pixels equate to the image size. The bigger the amount of mega-pixels, the bigger the image can come out to be. This does not, however, guarantee a great picture. In fact, cellphone's built-in cameras "boast" about the amount of their mega-pixels. Sellers try and persuade consumers that the amount of mega-pixels equate to the image quality; do not be fooled, however. Although some cellphone's built-in cameras may be larger in their mega-pixel value compared to those of other digital cameras, this absolutely does not mean that the built-in camera's picture quality will be better than another digital camera.
