It varries from state to state, but generally it's 3. If you can't hit it in 3 shots, it's probably going to be out of range anyway though.
2 in the magazine, 1 in the chamber when hunting. For home defense and the range, a 10 round magazine limit is in effect if and only if the shotgun is Semi-Auto or takes a detachable magazine. A tube fed pump-action does not follow the regulation from what I have read.
Yes. Shotshells are fed from the magazine tube to the chamber. When the last shotshell is fed from the magazine to the chamber, the magazine is empty, but the shotgun remains loaded.
Limits the number of rounds which can be loaded. Typically, in US laws for waterfowl hunting, a repeating shotgun is only allowed two rounds in the magazine, and one in the chamber, for a total of three rounds.
If it has a tubular magazine, then the plug is probably inserted in there. When hunting, a shotgun is typically not permitted to be loaded with more than three rounds (including the one in the chamber), and the plug is required to ensure the shotgun is not loaded with more than that. It comes out easily enough.
A shotgun typically stores 5 rounds in its magazine. In some countries, when hunting certain types of game, you are only allowed 3 rounds in your magazine. The "plug" therfore goes into the magazine and takes up the space that two rounds would occupy., reducing the shotgun's magazine capacity be 2 and making it legal. Thus removing the plug restores the shotgun's capacity for a full magazine.
If you are referring to the magazine tube plug. The answer would be No. It is put there for bird hunting regulations only.
When hunting, most states will require that a shotgun not be able to hold more than 3 shells- the plug blocks the magazine to limit how many shells. When not hunting, the plug is not required. It IS required when hunting any migratory bird- such as ducks, geese or dove.
A pump or auto suppose to be plugged so no more than 2 shells in magazine and 1 in chamber
It could very from state to state but I suspect the federal gov't regulates all that. In Michigan, the legal maximum capacity is 6 shells. Improving answer: Canada is not Michigan. But within Canada, there are Provinces. So I think they can have their own gun and ammo laws that may be tighter than the National law. Also, there is often a difference in what is allowed for hunting and what is allowed for other purposes. For example, under U.S. federal law (actually a treaty) a shotgun used to hunt migrating waterfowl (ducks, geese) can only hold 3 rounds maximum. 2 in the magazine and one directly in the chamber. But for deer hunting with slugs, 5 rounds is OK in most states.
Put on in the chamber and then top off the magazine.
-If its a pump action shot gun and you aren't hunting migratory birds then you can have as many as you want. -If its a semi auto shot gun then 5 as long as you aren't hunting migratory birds. -If you are hunting migratory birds then you can only chamber 3 shells total 2 in the mag and one in the chamber. (this is for Canada)
I'm assuming the Trench, Riot, and Training versions all had the same magazine. If this is correct, my 520-30 holds 5 in the magazine + 1 in the chamber.
